How to control gallery display order

I'm using a simple image gallery. How can I control the order of image diplay. I choose "display order", but the actual observed order seems random to me.

I've raised this issue on this forum a few times in the past but they seem to be roundly ignored. Maybe C5 doesn't have enough image-oriented users??? (I doubt it, but you know-)

Which gallery add-on were you using? Your other post leads me to believe it's Flash Gallery but I don't notice any image ordering strangeness when testing that out.

Also, to the original poster: which gallery were you working with? I'm glad you were able to make the slideshow do what you want but obviously we want our add-ons to work well.

Yes, Flash Gallery.

If I choose to use File Set, the file order is random, even if the file names start with number prefix like 001-xyz.jpg, etc. A sort option would make it 1000% better.

If I choose custom list, all I have is small up/down arrow. If the album has more than 10 pictures, this is practically beyond my patience level, as it costs my hand O(n^2). If you could make it thumbnail drag-and-drop reordering interface, it'll be hugely better as it'll cost my hand O(n). A 1000% improvement if the album contains 20 or more pictures.

While we are at it, another option I would like you to consider for Flash Gallery (if you are involved in maintaining/improving it) is another display option. I like to have a static image in page, and when clicked, I want Flash Gallery to replace that static image in place, on page, not popup. Can that be done? With the Adobe-Apple war, and non-Intel based mobile terminals and all that, I want to keep things clean on the landing pages but at the same time, people don't like popup windows.

THANKS!

FYI, I switched to custom slide show where I was able fully control everything (e.g., display order, fade time, etc.). It only took a few minutes to set everything up.

Yeah, I know there are a couple of newer options that allows image orders be sorted by filename, etc., but Flash Gallery is supposed to be the best of the image galleries for concrete5, and it's also the highest priced.

I understand that Franz believes in charging money for support, improvements, and updates, and I agreed, so I paid $35... now can't I expect the add-on to be up-to-date and competitive, and more importantly, useful to c5 users?

I developped a block that can sort your picture into your fileset. A really nice page where you just drag drop your photo to change the order.
Unfortunatelly, it stay pending on marketplace because really soon, the core will update the C5 width this functionality.
So just wait a bit and you will sort your picture :-)

By the way, i just finish to develop a double really proffesional flash gallery for C5. YOu can already see the result here :http://www.sebastienj.net (some bug stay, be patient)

I've tried to save image order in a set in File Manager and then view that set on Flash Gallery. However, the image order is not reflected on Flash Gallery. Am I missing something, or does Flash Gallery need an update to reflect the new feature?
