Html Not showing in editor

Currently using ver 5.5.2.1
I am very very new to concrete5 and trying to learn
I wish to view the HTML code
When using the Rich Text editor with content on the page, if you click the HTML button - no HTML code shows. Is this a version thing or something not set up correctly.

If you wish to view the HTML content of a page you should use Firefox/Firebug or Chrome /Developer tools.

The HTML viewer in text editor is only to view the HTML of the text in that block. If there is no text in the block, you will not see anything in the viewer.

Good luck!

Many thanks for the response.
There is text in the text box, that was why I wondered why I cannot see it.
Currently I use Dreamweaver for HTML but thought the text editor would do for small fixes

Yes I use the HTML view also to correct things - especially if you change between types of text (title or "p") It likes to add a lot of spans that have to be removed, etc.
I am sorry - all I can imagine is that it is a bug. Greater minds than mine might have a fix, but they haven't read this post.
Have you considered updating?
