Hyperlink banner images in file set

I have a file set of banner images that I'm using in a slideshow block. I would like to be able to hyperlink each image to a different page on my site. I can not figure out how to do it in the dashboard. I know when you first create a custom slideshow the option to link the images is given, but now that I have an established file set, I can't see where that option is available.

I'm also trying to get some pointers on this. I realize we'll have to add/adjust custom code in the block's view file, or something similar, but it's really hard to get info on this subject. Seems like it would be a nice feature to add a custom file attribute like "Link URL" that is set when uploading to the File Manager, and then have the block recognize if there is a Link URL attribute, and link the banner/image.

Let me know if you hear anything info.
