IE9 and the missing Edit Bar

Sorry about this and I know its been done to death but none of the posts I read sorted my problem. My Nav Bar has disappeared after upgrading to 5.4.2.2 (I will go to 5.5.1 but too many plugins not up to speed).
My Nav Bar is missing in IE9 and I've deleted JQuery stuff, emptied caches etc etc. Its still missing. It seems there are different solutions for this but none seem to work for me.
It wouldnt bug me too much usually but I have to go and train a client how to use C5 on Tuesday and it wont be much fun if we cant see the Nav Bar. I can't even get to the dashboard.
Any ideas?
