You could use the image block instead which has an option for image on state. Load your image in, load your rollover image into the onstate slot, and done.
Like it how your the only one that helps me out!
In this case your suggestion won't work as the images need to be directly next to each other, no spacing between them vert or horiz,
I can see the feautre in the content block but don't know how to use it.
Might upload a picture soon.
Cheers

Like your art work man, I work in a metal company as a contract co-ordinator, do you use stainless or Ali?

Its not mine. I have this free website deal setup for artists to gain a viable web presence, etc, but I will make sure to pass along the compliments. He uses iron for smaller ones, and stainless for the really large ones, largest is 8ft by 6 by 5.
To use wysiwyg to make a rollover you need to use the insert/edit image function instead of just add image, see screengrab 1.
Once you've done that enter the url of your image in the general tab, and a preview should show, see screengrab 2.
example image url
http://webdesignledger.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/social_media_...
Now go over to the advanced tab, click the alternative image box, and than add urls for your rollover image in mouse over, and your original again in mouse out, so when you pull the mouse away from the area your image goes back to original, unless you want 3 images in your rollovers, see screengrab 3.
Make sure to fill in the image descriptions, set dimensions in the appearance tab, and add relevant info if you care about SEO.
I am not exactly sure if that was what your looking for, as I am not sure what you meant by right next to each other, and vert etc, but hope that was it.

Thanks for the tip !
Do you know if there is a way to change the transition speed between the two images ? I would like to make the effect a little bit softer
