Images / Image Versions

One thing I don't see fully trough is the handling of images in concrete5.

As I see it, the theory is awesome. You upload one image. The system does not make any versions but instead you can use the image in the size you need it and the system scales it down on the fly.

...that is if you insert the image over block->image. That is great and works good.

But why don't we have the same functionality if we add a picture in the tinymce editor of normal content?

There the original big image gets loaded in and if you make it smaller, then you only add width and height css styles but the picture shown is in fact still huge, original and with a big filesize.

If you would have the possibility to also in the tinymce choose the image size of the image and get a true resized image...now that would be something.

There's a patch floating around that will do this. We are going to include it in the core but it needed some work (ie one problem was that it was ALWAYS resizing the image, even if the image was the size that the original source was.)

That's awesome.

Also, in the Image block, there is a function to show the second image when moused over. This function stretches the dimension of the second image if the aspect ratio is not identical to the first image. I much prefer if this is padded or zoomed, rather than stretched. Can that be fixed as well?

Perfect! Looking forward to that. Thanks Andrew.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but where can I find this patch that Andrew mentions?

Being able to (truly) resize an image in the Content block would be soooo nice.

Thanks!
