Images work. Sometimes.

I have quite a few images on my site that I use in a bunch of different places, so it's important to me that they're kept as one file so that if I make changes to them later, it changes universally.. (that's part of the point of a CMS, right?)
I've been getting a random thing where some images work, but some don't. They might work on other pages. Instead of displaying the image, it's just imagename.jpg - if it's a link, then the text fits my css for a text link.
They all work in the content editor box.
Any ideas?

not sure if this will work, but you might want to try rescanning your images through the dashboard file manager

I'm wondering if anybody knows what prompts this? It's not a big deal, it's an easy enough fix.
