Import files from a directory

The Editor docs say "you can FTP files into an Incoming directory on the server to import". How? It doesn't say.
I want to upload all the files from a folder elsewhere on the server that holds my old site. But I can figure out how to do this without adding a url for each individual file (of which there are hundreds).
Can anyone help me through this?

You can place the files in <siteroot>/files/incoming and then they will show up in a list that you can hit import on.
I just figured that out a little while ago after several days of hunting for a way to do it. The docs need to be a tad clearer on how that works for us newbies. But, I'm glad it's working. Thanks!
