Increase width of left sidebar content area

Hello! I increased the size of my page by editing main.php in the default (plain yogurt) theme.

However, now my sidebar content area appears small and I would like to expand the width of the area.

See the attached image for exactly what I'm talking about...

Thanks for the help!

Also, please note I mean I want to increase the size of the content area within the sidebar, not the whole width of the sidebar itself, which is perfect. Thanks!

You would usually create a new page type both in a .php file on your server, and than connect it in the dashboard, but you could just switch to a full or main page type, whichever is full width, and add a layout.

When you click the area, choose add layout instead of add block, and go with 3 columns 1 row. Use the left column for your sidebar, and the right for your main, with the middle column for spacing. Use the sliders to size and your good to go.

I also wanted to add that you should check your site in a few different resolutions as switching the theme size can cause issues. Say you set it up for 1080 width, and this is absolute, than it will show very poorly in an 800x600 mobile for example.

To set your page type to full width, open the properties of the page through dashboard, and select the full, main, or home page type, whichever has a one area layout.
