index.php removed problems - SOS

Playing around with the settings of my website I thought it would look cleaner if I removed the index.php from all links and did so from the dashboard option. I got an error message that said something along the lines of "cannot do because of server permissions" so I ignored it and moved on. I signed in as a test user to see how some permission settings I changed were affected and I got a "page does not exist" message. I noticed that I was redirected to a page with the index.php removed. I added the index.php to the address and got to the page logged in as the test user. The problem now is that I cannot login as the admin because the log in page redirects to a "index.php" free link which does not exist! Help! I am locked out of my website!
Thank you..

Hi c5 community,

I'm having the exact same issue, having just turned pretty URLs on with 8.0.3
I found the way to turn URL rewriting off here, but why did this break the whole system ?

https://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/installation/turn-off-pre...

I have turned this option on the same server before, and that worked then, with 5.7.5.6 upgrading up to 5.7.5.12, but this is a fresh install.

I'll be obviously interested in the solution to the issue, besides the quick fix back without pretty URLs ;-)

Thanks,

Christian
