"is_featured" page attribute not working with 5.6.1.2

We recently updated our site to 5.6.1.2 and now we are having problems featuring content with the "is_featured" page attribute.
Before the update we could select the "is_featured" attribute and the content would show up in our feature slider. Since the update we are unable to feature any new content. And some of our older content is no longer featured.
We've tried deleting and re-adding the attribute, but are still having no luck.
Has anybody else had experience with this problem and solved it?
