Is it possible to limit client editability?

Hi there, first time user asking a probably overswamped question, but I couldn't find a proper answer with searching and I'm in a bit of a rush to decide on a CMS for a client website I'm working on.

My question, plain and simple, is:
Can I limit the content (per page) that my client can edit?

I fooled around with the demo and noticed I could grant my "clients" group the permissions to edit the page, but I didn't really have the option to stop them from editing everything. I only want them to be able to edit the content box itself, nothing else.

I've also downloaded Tom's c5 manual, and I've noticed a bunch of permissions areas I can't access with my admin account on the demo. Nor have I found any "Advanced Permissions" settings (sub-permissions tab, etc) I've seen discussed in other posts regarding similar issues.

Sorry if this question comes up a lot.. I'm stressing pretty bad right now so I'm praying for a quick answer.

If this has been answered in another post, please link me the post and feel free to flame me. :)

So I posted the image elsewhere, anyways, here's what I see when I go to Permissions.

Will a link to the help document suffice? :D

Advanced permissions can be enabled by editing the config/site.php file, the details of which are in the link above.

Once you have advanced permissions on, you can set permissions by individual user, by page section, and even add time-release permissions, which become active (or fade away) at a set time.

Although I should point out that you can't do any of this on the free demo sites.

That helped exceptionally, thank you very much!

Guess I've gotta download and upload it to my FTP to get it working the way I need it.

Thanks again!!! :)

I've uploaded c5 to my web server and enabled advanced permissions, but I'm still failing to figure out how to limit users (or groups) to being able to edit sections of pages.

I really can't have my clients able to edit the headers and footers, or the nav for that matter. I want to limit them to editing the content itself.

if you click on a block area as an admin, in addition to "Add block" you should see an option to configure permissions.

play around with that.

I've been fiddling around with it, the only real problem I have now is I don't want my client to be able to add content / blocks / etc to the header area, only the content below it.

yes, you can limit editing rights by group to specific block areas in the page, which is what it sounds like you're trying to do, no?

A couple times to do the block style of editing, but if I give my clients the write ability then I need to manually remove permissions for everything I don't want them to be able to touch. And the "add.." areas don't seem to have permissions? Sorry if i'm failing to understand something vital, I'm still getting used to c5, or trying to atleast..

if you click on the add area, you should see an extra tab in the block list.. gives you a permissions grid for each group vs. block type for that area... (see attached)

I never realized those were area specific, I figured they were global for the page!

Man this CMS is getting more and more amazing by the minute.. :D

Thanks again for all the help!
