Step 1.
Load your image to [http://www.favicon.cc] and it would create an (.ico) file for you to upload to C5. - Or watch this vid [http://youtu.be/exLcN3raQrE] on how to create a favicon on photoshop.

Step 2.
Since you now have your Favicon, go to:
Concrete5, log in as admin.
Go: Dashboard> Sitewide Settings> Upload Bookmark Icon (which is the 4th box from the top)
Choose your file to upload, save. And there you have it.
All the best mate.

I use to use or have (probably around here somewhere) a small program that created favicons, but since there are lots of online places that do it, I don't even use that program anymore.
There are actually easier ways than the favicon.cc site way (unless I missed their upload feature).
You should be able to upload your existing logo to one of these sites and they automatically create the favicon for you, and a good one will create all the favicon sizes within one file. 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, and 57x57. I don't think I saw the upload ability at the above mentioned site. If it does, then that is an easier and faster way than trying to recreate a logo as a favicon by hand.

I use IcoMaker (http://homepage.mac.com/t_ogihara/software/OSX/icom-eng.html)

Mac only, old but still works and is sooo simple to use.
