Lost Header Navigation while editing

I was trying to remove a page on my site that I made by mistake instead I removed the header navigation and wasn't able to recover it. Fortunately when I went back to the website the navigation was still there. The problem now is every time I login to edit the navigation disappears which makes it difficult to edit.
The navigation might be page cache. Did you try a previous version of the page?
Thanks for the reply and you were absolutely spot on Chris Torres from Dojo Design Studio took a look at it for me and sorted it. His conclusion was a caching problem.
