Maintenanace mode problem!

In 5.3.3.1, in the dashboard, I set my website to maintenance mode. It shows the :coming back soon" notice. But when I try to login to the site as administrator, still it shows the same board! Anybody has a clue, please?
if you've set the user login settings to direct to home, this is the experience you get on logging in. Try directly going to sitename.com/dashboard after logging in.

Ah ... I had the same problem. I have tried every solution suggested in the forums, deleting entry in the config db. Clearing the cache folder ...
