Make the welcome page editable

I've seen with version 8 that there is the Welcome page, which has the "Welcome Back" message at the top. This would be a great stop point for people logging in, however it isn't customiseable really, I can't add blocks, I can't change the background behind the "Welcome Back" message and I'm not sure where to start to remedy this.

Any suggestions?

Hi dkw15,

On the Welcome page, under the "Welcome Back" image is a black bar. In this black bar is the text "Customize". If you click "Customize", it puts the area below the black bar into edit mode allowing you to add and delete blocks and layouts and move them around.

make sure you log in as the root user (admin). it won't work otherwise.
