Member Friends issue

Hello
I don't know whether I'm missing something or is this a bug. But I have faced some problem with member friends section. Let me discuss the scenario.
Suppose there are 2 members called XYZ & QWE. XYZ added QWE as a friend. Now I can see QWE in the friends list of XYZ. But I cannot find the XYZ in the QWE's friend list. As per the convention they both should be friend of each other. But it doesn't. Also there is no approval needed to make someone as a friend. I can add anyone as a friend.

Please clarify me if I'm wrong or missed something.

I've noticed the same thing. Add a friend and they are in your list but you are not in theirs. I had used the friend request add on for a while untilo i upgraded to 5.6.1.2, but now the add on leaves the site broken. And actually, try to delete the "friend" you made. On my end when you try to delete a friend (without request friends added) i get an error page, although the friend delete is approved... I'm baffled too !!

So this is a bug. Isn't it?
And I've also faced the 404 page while deleting but fixed it by myself.

Yes, I would say so, considering fresh out of the box on a new 5.6.1.2 install about 2 weeks ago the friending system was throwing error pages. I dont recall if it was on friend add or friend delete, but it was in fact doing it. As far as how the friend system is set up, to me, its twitterish. Like I said The Request Friends add on used to work for me up until 5.6.1.2 and I havent been able to find very much on the issue

(I'm not addressing the 404s on deleting...)

But the "one-way friendship" has long been an issue. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". The code is pretty explicit about this. (I consider that the "friends" are more like "favorites", which is probably how you should look at it.)

I've heard c5.org is rethinking the users/membership stuff for 5.7, but I can't speak to that.

We are familiar with the term "Friends" in many social networking sites. And the basic convention is like, one find a people & send him/her a friend request. The other party will see a notification about the Friend Request. If he/she accepts the request, then both of them will be friend of each other.

If you think its a feature, then whats about opt-in concept. As per rule, one cannot add me without my permission.
