Menu not showing when page created

Concrete5 is great, but I'm having trouble with my main menu. Once I've added a new page I cannot seem to get a link to it in the main menu.

I've tried going through the sitemap, I've tried creating a new auto-nav, etc, etc.

Is it that I need sleep? Please help.

you should be able to get the whole site tree up if you play around with the auto-nav. Check out the preview tab as you make changes in edit mode. That's the data its getting. It then uses a custom template to display that. Its possible your custom template isn't showing children, or something like that.

also check out the page list block

Got it sorted.... I was adding a page from the website side which does not add a " / " before the page name in the canonical URL in "page paths and location" tab under the properties of a sitemap item.

If however you add a page via the sitemap it does add a " / " before the page name in the canonical URL.

Is it just me and my machine?

c5 should take care of all of that for you... regardless of where you are.

Quite right Frz. Have now noticed the "Exclude from Nav" option under the "Custom fields" tab.
Its obvious I'm new to this hey, but maybe this thread will help another newbie.
Thanks for your response.

Thanks for this - I couldn't figure out why some pages did not appear in the menu but adding that forward slash did the trick!

Was this resolved? I just downloaded and installed c5 and when I create a new page from the page toolbar it does not show in the nav and I can't figure out a way to make it show at all. (I'm using the default template) When I create a new page from the sitemap all is well. The page shows in the header nav and I can't find a setting besides the canonical url that is different. There is no slash before the alias in the canonical url when I create a page from the toolbar but there is one when using the sitemap to create a page.

I answered my own question. Apparently this happens if you don't save the initial revision. I just assumed it had already been saved so I wasn't going through with the revision.
