"New material available!!" notifications for registered members

Hello everybody!

my website includes a restricted "members" area that contains material available only to specific clients. I would like the clients to be notified about added content in this area when they log in via a "new material available" or "content added since your last login" list. Material can be either a new content block, edited content or a new file, a new page etc.

Ideally the notifications should be automatically produced by the system whenever changes are made. If a page is added, the notification "NEW page added: myNewPageName, DD-MM-YY" should be published. Similarly for file upload and for page edits.

I couldn't find a plugin related to this issue. Anybody knows something similar? A plugin or so? Anybody has a similar functionality implemented on his website? Writing my own plugin is an option, seems like a quite long way for a C5 beginner.

Thanks a lot in advance!

That kind of notification is very blog-like, so maybe PM Chad and see if Pro-Blog can solve it for you.

I'm thinking along the lines of a page list on the home page with access restricted to members that shows a set number of most recent content pages...

Hi enlil, thanks for your reply. The problem in this case is that notifications are limited to page addition. If content or files are added on an existing page, there is no way to notify about it.

Alternatively, you could check out the concrete wall add on. Using "events" you should be able to post new and updated activity to the wall for your members to view. If you have any questions regarding how it works I could send you some event implementation examples after work tonight!

Hi enlil, I checked concrete wall as well, talked with James. It seems like it could provide some of the required features, like the page add notification but not as easily the block update or file upload, neither the since last log-in option. I will be working on an implementation myself, so any help with sample code would be very much appreciated! Thanks again,
Konstantinos
