New Page Blogs Spinning in 5.6.1

I am having a problem when I add new pages and go to edit them under 5.6.1
I have to select a specific page design to get the edit button to show (this happened under the 5.5). However, now I am unable to add a block. All I get is a spinning white block.
Can anyone help a non-techie continue the editing process?
