New page not showing up correctly

I added a new page to my site, and have checked that in its properties it has a canonical URL and so on, which matches its name in this case. However, when I try to navigate to it I get a 404. It's accessible using it's ID in nthe URL, but not by the name I gave it. What gives?

have you turned on pretty URLs and done the required .htaccess changes?
Yes. All the existing pages are showing up using the pretty urls as expected.
did you sort this ? im having the exact same problem i use rewrite on my server all the time from other scritps but any link /accessories/ etc isnt working, i have placed the htaccess file as people have said and read through all the posts without a fix :( can anyone shed any light on this ? im using the latest version and have noticed the admin links are /index.php/dashboard/reports/forms/
