Not able to edit anything with concrete5.
Hi,
I just started today with concrete5 after my site crashed due to host's negligence.
I checked concrete5 demo, it looked really easy but when I installed it, it's not a plesant experience till now.The time invested by me for concrete5 would have made a beautiful site by wordpress.
Once I installed it,I installed Responsa which breaked after activating.I was not getting the edit bar at the top in the Chrome and Firebox but when finally when I got it in the Internet Explorer,I am just not able to change any content in the front-end.
Please advice,if I need to work at the backend and limit my customisation then I would rather prefer wordpress.
btw my site is hanulovers.com,please tell me what needs to be done.

Hi jvansanten,
Thank You for your reply.
I am not trying to develop any interface but installed a theme from marketplace and assumed that I can directly change the content but the 'edit dialog box' appears blank which was not in the case of demo.
No, I am not developing multiple sites but I wanted something which works more quickly than wordpress and felt great about concrete5 in the demo.
So tell me if it's easier than wordpress if I just need to customise an existing template (theme) without any css etc?
If yes, please tell me why the dialog box appears blank.
Regards,
Sudeep Acharya

Concrete5 works flawlessly for thousands of us. If your new theme is not performing properly, contacting the theme developer from the themes "Support" tab in the marketplace should be your first step. Also, have you installed any add-ons or modifications? They could be causing a conflict.
I would recommend temporarily switching your theme to one of the default Concrete5 themes to see if your edits work. If so, its a problem with your theme. If not... uninstall the add-ons and retry. If that fails, its possible you have a corrupted installation.

Hi Adreco,
It's with every theme (even with the default one) after I installed new theme.
On top of that the edit bar on the top is only available in IE,not Mozilla or Chrome.
That is not my concern, I can work in IE as well but if I fail to edit on front-end that frustates me.

Let's see I'm installing IE10, I'll post if it solves the issue.
Hi,
I am able to do almost everything with IE10.
Now I feel at the ease of demo with concrete5.
Though couple of questions to you guys-
1)Can someone suggest me a good responsive theme for free to start with?
2) How to change the font size of the content in the block without any html.

1. I develop my own themes, so I can't really recommend a specific responsive theme.
Here's one in the marketplace that's free for the download:http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/themes/avant-garde/....
Googling Concrete5 responsive theme will identify others, including those targeting mobile devices.
2. The theme may have an option to change the size of the base text font. Otherwise, typically, for sitewide changes, you can simply modify typography.css to set the desired size or characteristics. Within the Content Block, you can also change font characteristics for that block alone -- use the style option.

The very first thing you need to do is go to your host's Control Panel and turn off Cloudflare. It has caused a lot of problems for other concrete5 sites and it seems to be injecting code into your site.
After turning Cloudflare off, go to your concrete5 "Dashboard->System and Settings->Cache and Speed Settings" and turn off ALL caching while you are developing your site. Clear your concrete5 cache while your there.
Also turn off the caching in your browser(s) so you will always be seeing the changes you just made to your site.

If you're trying to develop your own interface through themes, some knowledge of the underlying architecture is really needed. There are some good tutorials on the site -- just query the topic.
If you simply want to build and maintain your own site, Wordpress can pretty easily be adapted for web development and has a ton of plug-ins. That approach may be the best use of your time.
If you're developing multiple sites, IMHO, C5 is worth the learning curve
