Older C5 (5.4.1.1) suddenly having blank content blocks

Hey everyone!
Was just curious if other people are experiencing this. I've got this suddenly happening on two different sites--both with the same C5 of 5.4.1.1. Here's what's going on:
1.) Add a new block just fine.
2.) Go to edit existing blocks (without saving changes). Editor shows the text for a second and then disappears! Just poof! Gone!
Was just wondering if anyone else out there with older CMS's have seen this. I can't upgrade these easily (they crash) so I was wondering if anyone has come up with a work around.

Has you hosting company upgraded their version of PHP?

Nope. Both are at 5.3. It's just weird that this suddenly started happening. Think it's just a newer browser versions or something?

Seems like there's a deprecated call. Old CMS + new browsers = errors I guess. Updating was the only option.
