Package not removed

I tried to remove a package I installed (defunct_testimonials), but when I click the remove button, the package disappears from the "currently installed" list but does not appear in the "new" list (so I absolutely cannot reinstall and use the package!!). Also the button this packages puts in the dashboard menu remains there and I checked that the table "Packages" still contains the entry for the package.
Is this a general c5 problem or is it a bug in the package. And how can I make c5 to reinstall the package???

as a last resort, you can go into the DB and manually delete all tables related to this package (check the package's DB.xml files to see the related tables), and then delete the package entry from the BlockTypes table.
I also had this problem. I uninstalled, still had to delete the directory under packages and the package was still showing in "Add Functionality" page.
If you go into your database, in the packages table, you should see all your package installs. I deleted the record there and life is good.
FYI backup your database before you go deleting things.

what i did was went into the concrete/packages directory and manually deleted the folder after uninstalling it.
