Page Type Default design changes don't appear
Permalink 1 user found helpful
When I make a "design" change in my Page Type default, that change doesn't appear on pages using that Page Type.
-- Pages & Themes / Page Types / Left Side Bar / Defaults
-- Edit Page / click on text block (that I added to default page)
-- Select "design"
-- Click "background" tab
-- Select desired color, ok, Update, Exit Edit
Color change shows properly on default page, but does not show on "child" pages (pages built on that page type.)
If I edit text, those changes do appear on child pages.
I'm using Plain Yogurt theme. I recently upgraded to 5.4.1.1. I didn't have this problem with previous version.

The blocks are the Quick Links and News & Events on left sidebar.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.

You should also really look into using the Global Scrapbook and not Page Defaults for editing/managing global blocks. Page Defaults was really intended for you to define a "standard set" of blocks that get added to every new page. The Global Scrapbook is more for what you're looking at doing.
Sorry, jptebf - I read your post as if you wanted to modify current default content and have new pages use said content upon their creation.
If you're trying to control global blocks like LucasAnderson described then his mention of using the Scrapbook is the way to go.

Thanks beebs93 and Lucas.
I had forgotten about the "setup on child" step. I'm still a newbie on concrete5, but that got me where I needed to go.
It does sound like Global Scrapbook would be a better approach. I'll try to learn that next time I need to do layout work.
Thanks again.

While editing said page type defaults, click on the block and you'll see "Setup on Child Pages" where you can choose which pages of the page type to manually push the new default block to.
For any new pages you make after the fact, the updated default block will be shown.
