Page Approval with Advanced Permissions
Permalink
I am very new to Concrete5 and have been trying to figure out if something is possible with advanced permissions. I have a user that is set up with a group that has permissions to read, versions and write to a particular page. After this user makes a change to their page and is ready for the page to go live, I understand that I, as the Admin, will need to approve the page, which is what I want. However, I can't figure out if there is an easy way for me to find out if a page (or pages) is ready for me to approve. Is there a queue of pages awaiting approval that I can access, then go through one by one to approve, or is there some other way I can be notified that there are pages to approve?
Thanks for the quick reply... it's not what I hoped to hear, but at least I have a clear answer. Thanks again.
You mentioned about adding the "pending page approvals" list to the next version of Concrete5. Do you have an idea of when that will be released? I checked out the Developers page and noticed that new updates have been consistently released every two to three months. I was just curious because I hope to launch a new website by January 1st and it would be great if this feature was added prior to that date.
well i said we'd like to add it, not that we were gonna in the next version. ;)
we'll see how time and money go, but honestly the biggest concern on my radar right now for version 5.4 is one click update. if we have the time to rebuild the sitemap as part of 5.4, that'll be great and it'll get this feature as part of it.. but it's not a mission critical issue in my mind...
better update is.
wish i wasn't disappointing you, but this is life.. on the upside, a report to show un-approved pages would be a pretty simple extension for anyone to make.

Thanks again for the quick reply. I understand prioritizing issues for updates. Other than my "pending page approvals" issue, I think Concrete5 is a fairly solid CMS. Thanks for your work on it.
if you are going to do this yourself, here's a link on how you can handle the coding of permissions:

any further updates on this idea? anybody know of any add-ons available whether online or an email distro to let approval admins know of pending approval requests? Thanks.
I just posted a reply to this at this url:http://www.concrete5.org/index.php?cID=22491...
It works and it's simple as toast.

there's no "pages pending approval" list today in c5. Its something we'd like to add to the sitemap when it gets rebuilt. My experience has been that as much as clients demand workflow tools, they end up doing things by email anyway... "Boss, approve my press release!"..
But sure, if someone submits a good UI on this we'll happily include it in core.
