Page Type Problem

Not sure if this is an installation issue or editing.

I have installed by third C5 and it all apparently went well. Got no error messages.
Now, I am using the default theme (Plain Yogurt) and trying to use the left sidebar page type throughout as I have done on the other two.

I chose left sidebar defaults, designed the page, etc. But, when I log in to the site, I keep getting the right sidebar page with some of my edits I made on the left sidebar.

I have searched the forums, but found nothing yet.

I have cleared the caches, restarted browser.
Any ideas,
Thanks

I'm not sure i understand. You have to change the page type for the specific page in question, changing stuff in defaults will change the default content that shows up for that page type, but it wont change which page follows which page type in your site.

I think i have the same problem. I made a new install and i am experimenting with new page types.
I made a new page type, selected it to be a left sidebar page. Then i went to defaults to add some blocks but this new page type has a right side bar.
I currently use the Left Sidebar that came by default with the installation. I use keepitsimple theme. The problem is that i cant make any new page type with sidebar on the left because when i create a new one i get the sidebar on the right.

concrete5 is great and i am just trying to learn whow things work so... what am i doing wrong?

it looks like some theme's do not work with full, right and left sidebar, because the themes only have a default page type, LoadFoOv2 for example

but if there's no template file for the page type the theme should use the default.php file that all themes must include..

the challenge here is while the 3 page types that concrete5 ships with are layout centric, the architecture doesn't really require them to be. layout can happen in the theme as well, and often we'll use page types for data model stuff more than layout. see this thread:

To be more clear: I chose the left-sidebar page type to set up as a default, added all my blocks, etc to it.

But when I began designing the site, the home/index/landing page kept coming up as a right-sidebar type. When I added my secondary, tertiary, etc. pages, they all loaded properly as left-sidebar.

So, since I had to get the site live today, I left my home page at right-sidebar and all the other pages are left sidebar.
