Password Frustration Help !!

Hi,

I set up a site for a client that is working well and Im the super admin I guess.

I need to tweak the site (fairly regulalrly) and it has so far been an automatic login from my mac in Firefox.

For some **^^%$$ up reason I have been logged out and now I cant get back in as admin at all.

I also set advanced permissions for the blog and need full access.

Please dont tell me to re-install and the other post I read on this is gobbledegook.

I had to sign in on my own site just to post this.

Help Please.

After finishing the install?
Did you try to reset the password in the Database?
Are you at least sure you're logging in with super admin?

about any of the above as once I was logged in it was automatic.

I thought super admin was just a fancy term, is it a real thing?

I installed the C5 site, designed and built it from scratchand its been working fine until I upgraded to Snow Leopard and it must have un logged me or something.

I have access to the database though php my admin..

Can I find the password there?

Thanks for your help.

the password is not stored in the database, a hash of it is - so that's not gonna work.

why is forgot password not an option? Do you not know the email address you used to create the site either? If you do, simply request a new password. If the site's not sending out emails, you should be able to find the body of the mail its trying to send in the log tables. there will be a reset password link you can use there.

if you don't know your admin account email either... A) don't be afraid to write something down in life! wow! and B) try to dig into the user table and look for what email is associated with the admin account, then go through the request password path again.

Yes should have written them down.

I have managed to log in to the site but when I go to the forums it asks me to log in again. I logged in with the same u:name and p:word but they dont work.

I want to double check how the account is set up ie the profile u:name and p:word.

Because Im administering the site for someone else Ive confused myself and I realise why this has happened.

I am also logged in on my own site and I have both sites open.

When I go to the forums from the clients site, because I am logged in under my own site I automatically go to the forums under my username.

But this is not the clients profile.

I need to find out the username and p:word used for the clients site profile page.

Can I do this easily.

I'm so lost.. You can login but you can't?

are you talking about two different sites?
or your project site and this site, concrete5.org?

what do you means forums? there is no forum add-on so if you're running forums on your project site and it's asking you to login, that's cause its a different app.. perhaps?

wanna help, but im really confused.

You have to be careful creating new sites with the same email address if you are admin.

Also I have made a different u:name and p:word for the Profile than I have for the site admin.

Its all a bit weird and its just housekeeping.

so yeah thanks for trying.

Concrete 5 is great!! All hail concrete 5!!

Now Im replying with the clients admin.

I have two sites.

My email address is the same for both.

One site is in my name with my Profile.

The other is in the clients name.

I use my email address (with different passwords) to admin both sites but to log into C5 and access the forums and community etc the clients site has a different log in.

Does it make sense? ie, to edit the site I use u:name A and P:word B but to log into the forums and cC5 community etc I use u:name B and p:word B.

In other words they are different and can get confusing.

For instance I have logged into the clients profile and am posting this under her name.

I need to do this because she cant do most of it. So its on her behalf.

Im sorry for the mess and it is just housekeeping but it kinda gets confusing with many C5 sites that you have created on behalf of clients. But youre still the admin!!

Dose that make sense?

yes. we need to make the experience of connecting to the concrete5.org marketplace & community better honor and interact with the admin accounts we all end up creating on our sites built with concrete5..

we'll be re-addressing this over winter..
