permissions for areas

I would like to disallow certain actions for my main area.

since i have not found a way to globally turn off the option to e.g. delete content, add layouts and change the designs.

so i guessed going to edit mode, and change the permission of the area should do the trick. but the already existing block elements in that area are still deleteable...

is there a way to assign permissions to an area that already exists?
i would expect such a feature to be in the dashboard in an "area" section. global areas (for some strange reason) show up under "stacks". and there i am able to change the permissions.

thanks

alex

Use advanced permissions. This will allow you to do very fine control of who can do what.

One thing that might be causing confusion is that the 'Super' administrator can still see and do things even if permissions are set otherwise - it's only normal users and users in the Administrators group that actually get affected by advanced permissions.
