Playing Videos

We are looking to have a lot of video (training) videos on our C5 site, and we are going to be hosting the site as well as maintaining the video files locally (not via YouTube, for example).

Given that, when we are able to get QT movies loaded up, and working, we are not able to display the controller.

Is there some other way that we can present videos in C5 that would provide a more friendly video player experience? (Either the QT controller, or something else???)

Thanks!

Dave

Why don't you use flv? It's easy to use and easy to stream and you're free to pick a player you want...

I agree with Remo.

Silverlight isn't that bad really, not 100% cross platform but it does video REALLY well.

It appears that what I needed to do was to increase the size of the video to allow for the controller....

As far as "Using FLV" or "Silverlight"... it's all greek to me... I am NOT a PHP / Web Developer, just trying to try to get this site going for my boss.

As mentioned, I think that adding a video as a normal C5 element is now going to work, provided I add the extra pixels in the size.

However, as you'll see in my other posts, something still seems wrong with how C5 handles this in Edit mode, since the object menu and the edit menus, etc. all seem to sit on the layer below the video player.

Also, how are you able to control whether or not a video automatically starts when the page is loaded? I know with general HTML you can pass along an autoplay = "true" tag....

I totally agree with Dwolz. It need to be perfected. It should also be possible to incoporate whatever we want: wmv mov flv... on YouTube or not.

Easy or not easy, I really don't know. But it would be awesome to have this kind of video block with all the parameters we want.

Think friendly...
