Renaming Theme
Permalink 1 user found helpful
I have been heavily modifying the default C5 theme Yogurt and I realized that the next update will likely overwrite all my work.
Can I copy the default theme to another folder in the Themes folder and rename then apply the renamed Theme to my site?
What files in the Theme's folder do I need to modify/rename to ensure it works as a new theme?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Where in the Theme's folder are the Page Types?
So I can simply create a new folders in Themes and modify the theme's Description file?
Thanks

ok
create a new folder and put the theme directly into it. Then change description how you want it to see in c5 when you want to switch to. Simply rename home.php or the main page type to the name you want to have in c5. It should be applied as new page type and theme, although it's the identic theme you have already in c5.

Why do I need to rename pages like home.php?
The other Theme installed with Concrete5 has exactly the same page names.
I worried that if I move to a renamed theme that hours worth of site building and customizing will be lost.
Sorry to so thick! (:

rename the page type and the theme and put it into /themes. Works!
If you have problems, this should help
