Replacing Photos in a Theme

In general the templates come with photos in them. Can all of these photos be changed OR do I need to pick a theme based on the photos I see in the templates as they cannot be changed?

what do you mean? the slideshow block? that can be customized in the CMS,

FTP into ur site and go to root/packages/themname/themes/themname/ images or img. The images should be changeable there.
