Rule for adding image/media on a page

Hi Guys ! I am new to Concrete 5 (just installed it) but already posted a comment on another website concerning the installation (worked like a charm!). Now I started a test site on my laptop and started modifying pages. I tried to insert a small Flash slideshow after my text using "add a file" but I only got a link (needs to click and slideshow opens in another page). So I added an image block just under my text block. Now the slideshow runs as I wanted. But did I do the right way ? Can someone tell me what is the general rule for adding image/media ? THANK YOU all for your help !

Hi Franz ! Yes I managed with the Flash media block. I was just wondering why there is "add image/file" in the text editor and "add image/media" by using a block. I guess I have the answer. Add an image/media in the text editor just shows A LINK while adding a block DISPLAYS the element immediately. Well if you send an image by email, Oulook also offers 2 alternatives 1: attachment (will only display a link) and 2: insert picture (image will directly display in the mail without any need to click). Guess this is the same rule :-)

add image in the content block actually embeds the image in your html so you can wrap text around it and whatnot...

the image block works better when you're designing a template and you want to force the site owner to just use an image there. think the header image in our default plain yogurt theme..

the flash block works well for flash because you don't have to cut the embed code in, and it also turns the flash off when you go into edit mode so it doesn't overlap windows..

make sense?
