Saving positioning ... interface improvements?

New partial convert here ... I use Joomla and Drupal too. Using Concrete5 on my first customer project, and love it.
When adding a block to main and the moving it, I wonder if saving positioning could be made easier.

Currently, one has to click Save Positioning at the top left. As a enw user, I am not yet used to looking at the top of the screen for that. Also, the editor toolbar icons all use the same colors, so it isn't obvious at a glance that anything changed. If the Save Positioning button were fire-engine red, it would be obvious ;)

Another thought I had was that a Save icon could appear directly to the left of or on top of the block that just got moved.

These are all just suggestions. I wish Joomla & Drupal editing worked half as well as Concrete5 already does!!! But if we can push Concrete5 even further, why not? ;)

I agree that it's confusing at first (I have seen a few clients who are new to the system trip up over this). I kind of like your idea, but I think it would be very complicated to implement (and perhaps make the sorting more buggy?). Perhaps the toolbar button could stay where it is but be made more prominent (like a different color, or a little explanatory bubble appears under it for a few seconds when "Move Mode" is first entered?).

I think if the toolbar can be given a bright color or in some other way have attention drawn to it, that would do.
Not sure what it would take to implement the contextual suggestion I made; that's just what I think would be the most user-friendly.
