Search Results Mysteriously not Showing up on Results Page after Working Right for 2 months

Any Help on this would be appreciated!

For some reason search results have quit showing up on the results page after working fine for 2 months! I have deleted and reinserted the search block on the page several times with no luck. The search block works on the results page. Search blocks on all 50+ pages open the results page fine but with no results!

Have made no major changes to the site other than minor edits and installation of the recent C5 upgrade.

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance, Tim

Do you get "Page not found" error instead of the results page ? Did you double-check the Path to results page for the search block ?

No problem with direction to Search Results page, just no results. Have not changed any of the individual page search blocks since created. Everything worked fine for 2 months until I tried today. Search Results page opens fine from any of the page search blocks. Thanks for trying to help! Tim

Is the site debug level set to Production or Development ? You can check this by going to your Dashboard > Sitewide Settings > Debug > Debug Level , if you set it to Production, you can set it to Development so that you could get to know the error message when doing a serach.

I have found the contributing issue.

In the page search blocks I redirect to "Search-Results" when in fact the page is "search-results". This displays the correct page, but without results. This worked properly prior to the C5 upgrade...HONEST!

Now my issue is I will have a really bad time editing the 50+ search blocks on each individual page as they are burried by overlapping blocks!

I can not change the results page to "Search-Results" as it will not save the caps.

Does anyone know of a short fix to this dilemma?

You could create Page type Defaults and add the blocks that are repeated on each page , you should watch this videohttp://vimeo.com/3023508

Understand now the way I should have added originally. By the way, video is 15 seconds?

I did, however, use the scrapbook to add to each page.

QUESTION: If I edit one block created by the scrapbook, delete the original from the scrapbook and add the edited block to the scrapbook, will that change all of them? Or just plain delete all of them?

Really thank you for your help, know it is late there! Tim

Here's a link to the same vid on youtubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddgb_jAdeoI...

If the block in question has been added to global scrapbook then changes made there should apply to all pages where the block has been pasted.

Pritman, Thanks for all of your help. I learned another valuable lesson as I did not use the global scrapbook when inserting the search blocks on each page (used admin), or effectively use the page defaults. Therefore, my only fix (I gather) is to edit the block on each individual page. I could do this quickly, however, my header nav blocks are completely covering my header blocks. Unless I can temporarily increase the height of the header nav area, or get your overlapping block fix (from previous forum topic) to work, it will take me days to fix. Your help on this has been greatly appreciated! Tim
