Show Sitemap/File Manager buttons in edit bar (for a member/user)

Recently updated to 5.4.2.1 and I cannot seem to get the Sitemap and File Manager buttons to appear for a registered member with edit access. It works for admin but thats it. Thank you in advance.

Did it work before update?

Have you set permissions properly?

They did before the update, but the update changed the way the buttons perform, so instead of hardcoding it there is just a setting. I also have their permissions set to access the sitemap and file manager, and they can do it through dashboard just fine. I would still like those buttons in the top edit bar though.

thanks but thats not the issue. i've had that before and know how to deal with it. the buttons are just not there for a members group i created and specified. the buttons are there and work just fine as admin.

Maybe silly question, but...

...Checked boxes in Sitewide Settings - Editing Preferences, for including buttons in nav bar?

Oh, I understand. Unfortunately in C5, those settings are only applied on a per-user basis. So you would need to log in as that user, go to Dashboard -> Sitewide Settings, check the appropriate boxes and save. And you need to repeat this for every new user that you add. It's a total pain, and I think when the next new version of C5 is released it won't be a problem anymore.

aha...well it's only one user so far so it's not a huge deal. I didnt want them to have access to those settings so i turned them on temporarily and checked them off. I thought it was a global setting, at least in previous versions. thanks guys!
