Site is running painfully slow permissions too many SQL queries
Permalink 1 user found helpful
I ask my host why thehttp://www.bristolcityyoga.co.uk... site was running slow they have informed me that there is a lot of SQL queries and the site is doing an awful lot of processing. here is an example of a stream.
I dont know where to start with this but could it have anything to do with the new permissions model? if i google i find this /home/dklassen/apps/concrete5/web/concrete/core/models/permission/access/model.php document?
can anyone please help or suggest something that i can do.
I did activate advanced permissions and users who were admins suddenly did not have access to the site map or could not add pages after upgrading to 5.6 so i had to activate the advanced permissions and it looked like it was working but the whole site has been running painfully slow since then.
Thanks

You could check that the cache is turned on. If on 5.6, you also need to turn on the overrides cache.
No. Turn the cache OFF (it is usually on by default). It causes more problems than it solves and has been shown to be the main cause of slow "Time To First Byte".
it is off - and i did try your miser CDN but it vanished the built in slideshow so i didn't use it in the end.
Could you PM me the cost of your Miser commercial so i can then get some support in making it work on my site?
thanks

You don't need to buy Miser to get support in getting it to work. Just post explaining the problem on the Miser thread.
When you get it working and if you still want to use it on a commercial site, then you will need to buy a waiver.
However. If the problem is "Time To First Byte" then Miser will not help. You cannot "fix" this sort of problem with Miser.

iv used it on other sites and it does work and it helps just navigating between pages apparently on my host (cloud hosted with separate sql server) the amount of querying for each page load is whats slowing things down if that makes any sense at all.
@ecomatt
Indeed. It does work. But I ran a test on your site and it showed a large time to first byte which Miser cannot help with and is usually an indication of a cache problem.

If that's not the issue you are worried about, then Miser can help and if you are having problems with Miser; post on the Miser thread and we can sort them out.

i think the cache was turned off and i cant log into the dashboard as it just keeps asking me to sign in?
I know the web host was going to try putting the site on what it calls its varnish server to try and speed up the caching on that? so to do that i disabled its own cache.
what to do?

I have the same problem with my site (www.positivity.gr).
When I had the previous version it was really very quick. It was screaming.
Now it's so extremely slow.... sometimes no page shows in the end (and no error message as well).
I CAN access the cache setting but it has 3-4 parameters: Basic, Override and full page caching. Which settings could improve speed really?
If anyone can help.....
or are we waiting for the next concrete update
Does the Core team know about it really?

Is It normal that concrete 5.6.0.2 makes lots of sql queries like this
my hosting provider said looks like it's doing the same thing as the other site from the other day - lots and lots of these (SQL queries):
my hosting provider said this is why he thinks my sites are running slow after upgrading them to 5.6.0.2?
can anyone shed any light on this please. what are these queries and is it right that apparently there are many many more?

I'm having the exact same issue and have tried to get some support by posting it as a bug. http://www.concrete5.org/developers/bugs/5-6-0-2/page-load-time-inc...
I have a similar problem?
