site urls showing ' /~fergielo' (concrete user name) at end of url

Not sure how to explain this but when I view my site some links show up with ' /~fergielo' inserted between web address and /sub page. ie
www.www.laurafergusdesing.co.uk/~fergielo/contact...
but not all pages have this added.
I also removed a page from my navigation menu but won't show changes on site. (Edited version shows in edit mode when logged in as user name.
Very new to all this. Please help.
