Temporarily Hiding Pages and Their Children?

Hello,

How do I hide pages and their children from search results? I am launching a site, but one section will come online later. I want to work on this section, but not have it be accessible to a full site search. It has multiple children.

exclude from search index attribute

That is one method, but the problem with that is I have to do it for each and every page's properties. I am looking for a wholesale way to exclude a group of pages. Ideas?

I believe I may have answered my own question. Set the permissions on the parent page to not allow Read access.
