Themes and Plugins

I am new to Concrete5, and was looking over the themes. My main interest is to have a website to display a number of articles, most of which are about 5ive pages long. Since I am dealing heavily with text, the ease of editing is important;

Is WYSIWYG editing possible with Concrete5? Would a plugin of TinyMCE be of help? Or can Concrete5 be integrated with a word processor to provide this feature?

Sure. TinyMICE is built in.

Try an on-line demo of C5 at, for example, Softalicious:http://www.softaculous.com/demos/Concrete5...

If you do a demo install of C5, use the default which loads a sample website with blog -- so it gives a good feel of how a website actually operates. The demo above does just that.

Concrete5 5.7 will include a new state-of-the-art editor -- redactor. The beta is available, but isn't ready for prime time with a release date set for the fall. This version will have a major rewrite of the interface, with responsive themes as the default.

It sounds like C5 is well suited to your requirements.

Have you had an opportunity to work with a demo?

jvansanten,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I needed all the help I can get, so bought and installed "Slate" theme.
I had looked at a demo way back before I signed up for Concrete5. Guess I need to look at it again. However, in the meantime, I am beginning to learn how to add pages and insert text. This will keep me busy for a month!
I would like to have a "category menu bar" in the header. Or does one need to use the sitemap for a menu. (ach du lieber!)
When one looks at the html, it is all one undivided paragraph. Is it too much to ask that a carriage return follow each line break?
Thanks again for your replys.

Probably an obvious question -- but where is the CSS? and Can I edit it?

Yep, easy to edit. Recommend you keep an archive of the edits and/or rename the edited theme so you don't loose edits if you upgrade in the future.

In your installations "Packages" folder you'll follow the path of:
Theme_Slate > Themes > Slate > Main to access the main css

Also - many edits and your own css can be added from Concrete5. Look at Dashboard > Pages & Themes > Themes and select "Customize" after the theme you're using to see options
