This is driving me insane

I have been trying to learn concrete 5 and yes I do like but the image ratio is just driving me up the wall. I'm working off the default template and I've got to the portfolio, I see the installed images are a lot larger than what the image slider is set to which btw I cannot locate and have been trying for the past month. For some reason the image default will display correctly but my image which smaller in pixel width and length will not rather the image slider will zoom into it cropping the best parts out. I really don't know what to do other than make a new set portfolio and resize the pics in PS and under a different filename reupload the same images. But this shouldn't be as the default pics automatically resize themselves to fit throughout the pages.

I finally understand it, I can't believe I missed it all along it was right there but I obsessed and fixated on one point. It does crop actually zooms in on the default images but the question remains and I've asked this several times yet no ones been able to answer me. Where is the image slider located so I can change the default pixel ratio rather than changing my pictures and re uploading the same images all over the place. i have seen some where the image slider but it doesn't show the pixel ratio so if anyone does know where I can change this please let me know.

Hello,
The core image slider is in root/concrete/blocks/image_slider
