Thumbnails don't have preview in the File Manager

When I upload images to the File Manager, the thumbnails no longer show up, instead I see a generic icon. The strange thing is all my older images I have previously uploaded still show their thumbnails, but any new ones I upload don't.

I did recently move the site onto a different test server, but I know that it was working for a while, so I don't think the change of server has anything to do with it.

Any ideas how to resolve this issue?

Thanks.

I would double check the permissions on the <c5dir>/files/thumbnails directory and make sure they are writeable by your webserver. The other thing to double check is that the new server has the GD libraries installed to create the thumbnail images.

Hopefully that helps out.

Hey, Triplei
I have the same situation and i just moved to a new server and installed a new C5.
All permissions are 777 on all folders but i still cant get any thumbnails.
What is "GD libraries"?

Thanks for the prompt reply! You're right about permissions issue - it works now.

However, should I make all the other sub folders within the files folder writable, or just the parent folder (files) and the thumbnail sub folder?

You'll want to recurse down and make all the sub-folder writeable by the server as well. This way if you remove an image, or update it the server will be able to clean up or update it as necessary.

Glad to hear you got things working :)
