Unable to delete old page versions

Ever since I upgraded to the newest version of Concrete5, I have lost the ability to delete old versions of pages. The newest version is approved but when I try to delete the older versions, it just has the activity icon in the center of the screen (little rotating circle in a box) and goes no further. I have waited for hours and it never goes any further and the version is never deleted.

Is there a new setting somewhere in the dashboard that is preventing me from deleting these page versions? I am logged in as administrator with full privileges. I don't know what is going on. Can someone help me with this?

Oh, and I have tried it from two different computers so that is not the problem.

Thanks,
Heather

Heather, Are you trying to delete a big chunk of versions at one time? I have never been able to select all and delete. I have better success with 10 at a time. Without being said, make sure to clear the cache as well, if you have not already done so.

I have tried one at a time, multiple and all. I can't get them to delete at all.

Few quick questions

Have you attempted to delete one at a time?

How many versions does the page have that you are deleting versions for? Over 50? Over 100? Over 9,000?

Have you cleared your cache.
Dashboard->Sitewide Settings->Speed Settings "Clear Cache"

WHAT!!! OVER 9000!!!

I too am having the same problem. I just created two new versions but decided to use the third version from the top. Now I'd like to remove the top two versions since they're not what I need, but when I go to delete the top version individually, the 2nd to top version individually, or both versions together, the loading spinner just stays spinning.

Oh, btw, I have cleared the cache and it still sits there.

Anyone have any ideas?
-Thanks

I had same problem ... using Firefox ... could not remove any old versions of a page ... works with Google Chrome ... appears to be a browser issue.

I have the same problem, which I can reproduce when restoring database on fresh install. Multiple pages, it doesn't allow to compare, approve, or remove any, with the buttons (grayed out) under the versions window.

I've had versions corrupted several c5 project sites, separate servers and versions from 5.4, 5.5.1, and 5.5.2. I think it has to do with add-on modules, but I've not installed any, other than what components are transferred when moving the .sql backup and restore on new server. I'd hoped restoring the server would only bring in the current version.

Does anyone know what's needed to purge the unwanted page versions, or to why the buttons become gray out / unusable?

Thanks!

I've found a work around, rather than navigating through the Edit popup menu to get to reach the versions popup window, go through the Dashboard where you get the alternate (blue) display, and then the Full Sitemap - which has access to versions under the alternate css (blue rather than green for my theme), there appears to be some conflicts between styles classes... I'm not sure what causes the versions popup from Edit Menu to be framed in green with grayed out buttons, compared to the same versions popup displaying (blue edges) with active functional buttons to compare, approve, and remove. Hope sharing this helps anyone else that stumbled on this too...
