Unable to reorder menu items

Hi,
All I want to do is move a child page above a couple of other pages so it appears at it's intended position in the navigation on the site. However when I try and do this to normal way (in the dashboard>sitemap area) all I get is a never-ending loading wheel and the move is never actually processed. I've also tried in the flat view, and although no wheel of death, the move is never actually stored.
I've tried this in Firefox and Chrome (Mac).
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Just go to your wesite dashboard>full sitemap. Hover on the page icon which you want to move upward or downward direction. Just drag and left it where you want. It will automatically be there where you left that.
Yes that's exactly what I've been doing, however as I said, when I do that I get a never-ending loading wheel and it never processes the request.
