Unable to Access File Manager - Adv Perm
Permalink 1 user found helpful
I recieve block permission errors when a user tries to add a file/image "Unable to Access File Manager". All page and block permissions are set...files folder is chmod 777.....they can add any other content but no file or images.....same thing occurs in the new 5.2RC.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Resolved? Maybe it's a bug.
-Thanks

In 5.3.3.1, when not using the advanced permissions model, fix b) is taken care of in the File Manager itself (rather than in the Sitemap).
In the Dashboard, go to File Manager, tab sheet "Access", click button "Add Group or User", and add the group or user you created. Next, grant that new group or user whatever permissions feel right.
(This probably applies to earlier recent versions as well, and maybe also when using the advanced permissions model.)

I keep getting the same error message. I am trying to set up a user that has limited access to the Dashboard controls. In the Dashboard/File Manager/ I do not see a tab sheet that says access. I have also tried setting permission manually under sitemap / system pages, but it still tells me I do not have access when I log in as that user. Thanks for any help! Kevin

That's how we determine if the user has the ability to use the file manager. Ideally we'd have a more nicely displayed permission somewhere, and perhaps more granular ones as well (but this is something we're going to be addressing in the future, when we improve the file manager.)
So to fix this, you can
a) Put that user in the admin group
or
b) Go into your dashboard sitemap. Click "show system pages." Click on your dashboard/media browser page, and select permissions. Then add either that user to that page (w/read access) OR a group that that user is in. That should do it.
