unapproved page disappears from autonav

The site is on version 5.6.1.2 (fresh install).
Whenever an edit is made to a page and not yet approved, the page disappears from autonav when viewing that page. When viewing another page the not approved one shows up in autonav again.
As soon as the page is approved, autonav is ok.
This happens when publisher makes edits as well as administrator makes edits.
Can someone help me on this one? I don't know what is happening here :-(

I am using the maintenance editor add-on. When disabled the autonav works as it should. Bug in addon.
