Updated to 5.6.0.2 and can't edit pages

I just updated to 5.6.0.2 and now I can't put a page into "Edit" mode. The edit block that is usually at the top of the page when you sign in isn't appearing now. I can't add or edit content on any of my pages. Any ideas why?

What theme are you using?

At the bottom of footer.php do you have 
<?php   Loader::element('footer_required'); ?>

I am using a custom theme that someone created for me. I will check the footer code to see if that is there.

There isn't a footer.php file in the theme. See the pic for a list of pages in the theme.

So no elements folder?

So is 'footer_required' at the bottom of all theme page types?
