Updating Image Alt Text/Title Text

Hello,

So I am not a developer but I am in charge of SEO. For purposes of SEO I'm trying to make sure that all my images have ALT image text & title text that shows up in the page source. I have a site auditor that crawls my site and sends back the results and I've got quite a few I need to fix.

Images in an image block I've had 0 problem updating BUT it's images in a content block that I can't get to work. I've scoured forums and I haven't found any recent discussions about this.

I've updated the image in the file manager, gone to the page, and placed the image again...then cleared the website cache as well as my browser cache and still no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Hi acothren4,

What version of concrete5 are you using?

The Content block in 5.7 uses the Redactor rich text editor. It appears that only an alt attribute can be set for images.

The rich text editor in version 8 of concrete5 (CKEditor) includes an option for setting alt and title attributes on images.

My suggestion would be to make a full backup of your site (files and database) and explore upgrading from 5.7 to 8.

If upgrading is not an option, I believe you would need to modify the Redactor rich text editor to add setting title attributes. Upgrading to 8 would be far less time and effort though.

Thanks so much for the response! I will talk with my developer and see if updating is an option.

If not how do you add the alt text attribute? In the image block there is a specific field under HTML to add the alt text but I can't seem to find where to add that in the content type boxes. It just brings up the "Basic Properties" for the image. I've attached a screenshot!

Thanks again for your help!

Based on your screenshot you are using a custom block called Content Slider. I am not familiar with it. It may not include fields for alt or title attributes.

Can you reply with a screenshot of the block form, please.

I just upgraded to 8 specifically for this reason, and I STILL DON'T see any option to add this alt attribute.

Just to clarify, which block are you using?
