Upgrade to 5.6.1.2. Edit bar disappears when E-commerce 'View Cart' block is added.

We were running 5.4.2.2 with e-commerce and a simple template.

We were advised to upgrade to version 5.6.1.2 so we did, and along with that we installed a new theme, 'slate'. We had some problems along the way but we've managed to get everything working, or atleast we thought …

We have activated the 'View Cart' block (which is just a div with a link in it that opens a pop up of the cart) as a global, in the footer. Now whenever we go into edit mode the whole edit bar disappears and the edit areas still appear with the dotted red border but are unclickable.

I've tried commenting out javascript code related to the ecommerce module AND to the slate template as well but to no avail. The edit bar still does not appear when entering edit mode. We can go into edit mode but when it does then the edit bar is no longer visible and is impossible to edit any of the editable sections effectively making it impossible to edit anything.

I cannot even think of how to remove that 'View Cart' (global) block, as I'd need to be in edit mode to do this anyway.

I don't know if this is relevent but I pulled up firebug console and on there I get the two following errors appear:

TypeError: $.widget is undefined

ReferenceError: ccm_statusBarItem is not defined

Does anybody have any clues that can lead me to resolve this please?

Thanks,
Millo

Hi,
Is it live? Would you have an address to check it out?

It looks like a javascript error indeed.

Sure, it'shttp://upgrade.douglasbakerfoundation.org....

The javascript error that I've noted in the post won't appear though unless you're signed in. Did you want me to create a user for you so that you can sign in and check it?

I can have a look if you want so an account would be helpful.
Better to send me the details by PM I think.

This is what I found after checking your website, you are using a very outdated version of the ecommerce addon 1.8.7 and it's probably not working well with all the new javascript.
I doubt it is compatible with your version of C5.

You should update your ecommerce add-on to the latest 2.8.7.

Strange though because when I go into Dashboard > Updates it doesn't appear there. Just says 'No updates for your add-ons are available.'. I'm trying to find out how to upgrade now. Thanks!

Well I saw your site was linked to the C5 website. You have to attach your ecommerce add-on licence to this project or else it won't tell you you have an update.

One licence is good for one website, if the licence was attached to another website, you have to transfer it to this one.

I see. OK, so the problem then is that we've still got the old site running onhttp://douglasbakerfoundation.org... and we're doing the upgrade onhttp://upgrade.douglasbakerfoundation.org... which would then become the live site once complete, but up until that point I think it would be ideal to keep the ecommerce running on the old site until the new version is launched. Is there any way around this you think? Otherwise I guess we'll have to remove the ecommerce from the current site so that we can upgrade it on the new version and then get it up as soon as possible to keep the downtime to a minimum.

The problem is solved!

THANK YOU!

Once I assigned the licences they appeared in the update section of the dashboard and they installed fine and now everything works! :-)
