using of clipboard
Permalink 2 users found helpfulI put a block in Clipboard and from the Clipboard onto another page.
When I make a change to the original block, the 'copy' on the other page is NOT changed alike...?
Why then do I get this message: 'This block was copied from another location. Editing it will create a new instance of it.'
Every instance stands by itself anyway...
I'm lost. Can anyone explain?
(btw: I know I can use Stacks. But I don't want to make 78 stacks with only one block in it, that don't sort in any way.)
Cheers, Maureen

That is why you should use stacks or Global Areas if you want all "instances" to be a faithful copy of the original..
The message saying its created a new instance surely points to the fact its possible. A little 'edit' button on the clipboard would be nice. And would have saved me about a week.
If you have 100s of pages requiring similar content than stacks and page defaults are going to probably be exactly what you want.
How do we edit that original block on the clipboard? Now that would be a useful feature, no?
Its got to be stored in MySQL somewhere. So why can't we edit this one original block - C5 tells us we have to make an instance of it..therefore protecting this original block. I want it to cascade across all pages I've used it on.
I'd expect to get a behaviour similar to stack.
The current label "This block was copied from another location. Editing it will create a new instance of it." doesn't make any sense to me.
